TARAPOTO AND CHACHAPOYAS

6 Days / 5 Nights Discover Both Worlds

DAY 1: TOUR TO NATIVE LAMAS

Pick up at airport and transfer to hotel of choice.

03:00 pm Visit to Lamas which is located 30 minutes from Tarapoto, folkloric capital of San Martin, a vibrant place where you can submerge yourself into the rich cultural heritage and history of the region. A picturesque jewel with a medieval enchantment that stands out in the middle of Amazonia.

You will visit the Castle of Lamas, an ideal place for taking unforgettable photos, and also get to visit the historic and ethnologic museum of the Chancas people.

The day culminates with a visit to the native neighborhood and then transport back to Tarapoto.

DAY 2: TOUR TO LAGUNA AZUL

08:30 am Pick up at the hotel and departure to Laguna Azul. Crossing of the Huallaga river and a visit to the Punta Gallinazo viewing point to appreciate the landscape and take photos (photo booth costs are separate), before reaching the village of El Sauce. Lunch at a local restaurant in El Sauce.

Then a boat ride with key stops at important parts of the lake. Afterwards free time for any other recreational activities (any other recreational activity costs are separate), to rest, to go bathing in the lake, or to organize any other sporting activity. Afterwards return to Tarapoto.

08:00 pm Transport from Tarapoto to Chachapoyas (Virgen Del Carmen). DAY 3: TOUR TO KUELAP

Pick up at the city's main terminal and transport to hotel.

10:00 am Pick up at the hotel and departure to the village of Nuevo Tingo where there will first be a quick stop to order your lunches in advance.

Then you will board the first cable car system constructed in Peru which will take you to the tourist center of La Malca (aprox 20 min) where the entrance fees to Kuelap will be purchased. From there a walk of aprox 25 minutes to reach the Archaeological Complex of Kuelap where you will have a guided tour of the whole site.

Afterwards lunch back in Nuevo Tingo and then the return to Chachapoyas.

DAY 4: TOUR TO GOCTA

Breakfast at your respective hotel

9:00 am, Departure to the village of Cocachimba, where there will be a quick stop to reserve your lunches in advance and purchase entrance fees. Then you will hike for approximately 2 hours from Cocachimba to the base of the waterfall where you will be able to take photos and the guide will recount its local legends. Horse rentals are also available for the hike.

After the hike lunch in Cocachimba and then the return to Chachapoyas.

08:00 pm Transport from Chachapoyas to Tarapoto (Virgen Del Carmen).

DAY 5: TOUR TO ALTO MAYO

Pick up at the terminal and transport to hotel of choice. From the hotel we will head to the city of Rioja to explore the source of the Tioyacu, a river of crystalline waters surrounded by the exuberant beauty of nature. There you can have a refreshing bath and take photos which will immortalize your visit.

Afterwards we will head to “Chacra Vieja”, a fascinating museum of antiquities where you can learn the local history and enjoy exotic regional drinks such as “siete raíces” and “chuchuhuasi”.

Lunch at a touristic restaurant where you can enjoy typical dishes of the region and experience authentic local gastronomy.

Afterwards a visit to the orchidarium of Moyobamba, a magical place filled with varieties of orchids that will leave you amazed.

To complete the day, relaxation at the thermal baths of San Mateo, where one can enjoy a healthy and tranquil experience in its crystalline and therapeutic waters.

DAY 6: TOUR TO THE WATERFALLS OF AHUASHIYACO

10:00 am Pick up at the terminal and then a 45 minute ride to the imposing waterfalls of Ahuashiyacu.

There will be a stop at the viewing point of Ahuashiyacu, where you can enjoy panoramic landscapes, then a 10 minute hike to the base of the waterfall.
The waterfall has a height of 40 meters and its pool below a depth of 3 meters, a perfect place for a refreshing bath in crystalline waters.
Relax while surrounded by the exuberant beauty of nature and capture unforgettable memories with your camera.

At the end you will have the opportunity to explore and acquire local handcrafted items and souvenirs. Afterwards transport back to Tarapoto or its airport.
