DAY 1: CHACHAPOYAS - KARAJIA - HUAYLLA BELEN (OVERNIGHT IN BELEN)
We begin the day’s journey with picking you up from your hotel in order to drive to the village of Lamud. From there the car will proceed to the point where you will begin your hike (around 1 hour and a half) to the funerary site of Pueblo de los Muertos where you will explore various sarcophagi and mausoleums of the Chachapoyas culture. Afterwards a return to Lamud in order to have lunch and from there proceed to the village of Cruzpata, passing many other villages along the way, such as Cohechan and Chocta. From Cruzpata you will hike (around 40 minutes) to the iconic Sarcophagi of Karajia. After returning from the site, we finalize the day with a drive to the valley of Huaylla Belen, where you will spend the night camping.
DAY 2: HUAYLLA BELEN - PIRQUILLA - CONGON (OVERNIGHT IN CONGON)
After having breakfast, we begin our hike to the ruins of Pirquilla, a prehispanic Chachapoyan residential site, pertaining to the Gran Vilaya complex of residential sites. In the surrounding cloud forest that covers the site, you will get to enjoy the local flora and fauna, while the guide points out all the interesting aspects of the site. Continuing the hike after having lunch, you will descend down from the mountain to the village of Congon where you will spend the night.
DAY 3: CONGON - LANCHE (OVERNIGHT IN LANCHE)
The day begins with breakfast and we then begin our ascent upwards on horse back into the cloud forests. Enjoying the flora and fauna along the way until reaching our destination: the ruins of Lanche, another prehispanic Chachapoyan residential site. After having lunch at the site and thoroughly exploring it, you will camp overnight at a nearby point.
DAY 4: LANCHE - TINGO (OVERNIGHT IN TINGO)
After breakfast, we continue the journey upwards to the checkpoint of Yumal, where a vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and drive you to the village of Tingo, there you will have supper and spend the night.
DAY 5: TINGO - KUELAP - CHACHAPOYAS
Departing from Tingo after breakfast in order to board a cable car that will take you (around 20 minutes) up to the complex of Kuelap. After leaving the cable car you will proceed to the center of interpretation, from where your hike (of around 40 minutes) begins to the archaeological complex of Kuelap. You will get an hour to see the site and then hike back the same way to return to the cable cars in order to return to Tingo and then drive back to Chachapoyas.
